See Spot Run...*People Notes*

I don't know why we run. Nobody is chasing us. We are not running away from or toward anything. But Odie is a good little trooper and is also a good 'pace dog' so I guess we will keep running until it doesn't seem like such a good idea anymore.

The past weeks have been busy as always. Jeannie flew to Huntsville, Alabama to spend a week with two of the grandsons while David worked crazy hours and Jennifer took the opportunity to spend some time with her parents in Texas. Odie was mad that he didn't get to go on the airplane and didn't get to visit his favorite 'little people', but he will see them soon enough. We made pizza and enchiladas, baked cupcakes and cookies, played games and watched movies! All in all it was a fantastic week and I swear I don't know anything about cupcakes for breakfast...

Chris came out to spend a couple of weeks with us and to explore Florida. We managed to spend several days at the beach, went canoeing and snorkeling at Rainbow Springs (in spite of the alligator warning signs!), scootered around town, rode every rollercoaster at Busch Gardens (more than once), and ate and ate and ate! Seafood and Greek food and BBQ and gulf shrimp and conch fritters and smoked salmon and beach lemonade and hot fudge brownie sundaes...and then we ate some more. What a fun time - it's always nice to have a Chris visit.

Then Jeannie was treated to a weekend in New York City thanks to Erik & Katy who brought her to the Big Apple for mother's day weekend. We ate and ate and ate - JG Melons, Agave, Alice's and Graces. And then we ate some more. And played frisbee. And walked around and then ate and ate some more. And of course went to the Banshee Pub. What a fantastic weekend - thanks so much!!

The eating seems to be a recurring theme...perhaps that explains the running thing!!

See Spot Run, Run Spot Run!

I am a dog who loves long walks. I even love short walks. Or any walk. I am also a dog with very, very short legs so any walk with my people is more like a run for me. Then my people decided that they wanted to run...do you have any idea how fast my little legs have to go to keep up with that?! I figure that I average about 6 steps to each one of their steps, so when we go for our morning run/walk covering an average of 4 miles at about a 10 minute/mile pace I am actually using roughly 36,870 steps!! Are you kidding me? No wonder my little paw pads are in need of a pedicure.

Anyhow, my people did some 5k race and left me in the car (of course) even though I went on about a hundred 'training' runs with them and easily could have beat every person there. But afterward they shared their medals with me and gave me some banana bread so it was all good.

I am thankful for all the exercise I get because I have discoverd that there is an endless supply of lizards here that are all just waiting to be chased...they are fast little buggers and I have no idea what I am going to do with the first one I catch!

While I enjoy walks/runs, I do not particularly care for swimming. I'll do it if I have to, but it is not my favorite thing. I have found that if I wait patiently in the shallow water, or if I bark loud enough, that I will get the toy/ball or whatever the fetching object is one way or another. Rarely do I have to go in and swim after it tho!

Swimming in the pool was okay - at least the water tasted better than at the beach. But the beach is still my favorite place to play. When Uncle Chris came to visit we went to the beach a lot! There were a lot of dolphins playing, but they were too far away for me to swim out to them, but my lab friend tried to. I was never sure which was a dolphin or a shark...

Aaahhhh - I LOVE the beach!!! I am going to miss this place.
